What does this mean to you? I know what it means to me.
Prayer Warrior Ministries - When I started thinking about that simple phrase, I realized that although I had been proclaiming to live by it, I really hadn't.
I had to do some soul searching, and realize that I had failed.
Now, I wanted to seriously do as Jesus would do, but, first, I had to find out, WWJD?
One of the main things that I noticed about Jesus is that no matter what the person looked like, no matter what the person had done in their own life, He loved them.
I saw how He reached out to the leper to touch him, BEFORE the touch was expected, and I noticed that when the adulteress was brought to Him, He forgave, and loved her.
I realized that when He rebuked either a person, a situation, or a thing, He did not gloat over it, He simply stated the Word, and went on.
When the Pharisees wanted to debate scripture, He simply quoted the Word of God, knowing that it would stand on its own.
In our own lives, how many times have we come across someone who isn't "lovely", who's smell repulses us, or who's lifestyle is far from anything we could imagine?
How do we react?
Do we reach out and touch them?
Do we give them a hug?
Or do we shudder inwardly, thinking to ourselves, " I cannot touch that person"?
In our own debates over the Word of God, do we teach others, or do we shove our thoughts onto people, thinking that we must defend the Word at the risk of killing anothers spirit?
Jesus told Peter, "IF you love Me, feed My sheep."
Who were these sheep He was talking about?
I believe these sheep were/are the lost, the hurt, the hungry, the sick, and the prisoners.
So many times we try to be the shepherd, when Jesus Himself said that He is the good shepherd.
We are not the shepherd, we are only the sheepdogs.
We cannot save the sheep, we are to seek out the lost, the hurt, the hungry, the sick, and the prisoners, and bark our heads off for the shepherd to "come save them! here they are!"
When they have been rescued, then we are supposed to feed them.
That important piece of information has been overlooked by many, so many of the "lambs" have been saved from death only to starve, or be trampled by the older, stronger sheep.
I believe that many people have LOVE, but what kind of love do they have?
Do they have love FOR God, or love OF God?
The love OF God reaches out, and throws a lifeline of hope to the one who is caught in a trap, the love OF God drops to its knees, and cries to Abba for salvation for the masses of people.
The love FOR God simply says, God bless you, I hope you find help, instead of BEING that help.
We must join those two loves to make one perfect love.
I hope that the next time you hear that phrase, WWJD, you seek in your own life what He WOULD do, and then DO it.
If not you? Who?
If not now? When?
